Bonjour nos amis!

Welcome l'Ecole de l'Albenc!

In September 2009 we formed a partnership
with L'école de l'Albenc, a primary school in the
south-east of France. The children have been able to
exchange information about themselves and their
school as well as sending pictures and photographs
to one another.

April Fool's Day in France - "Poisson d'avril"

Until 1564, the year began on the 1st April. In 1564, King Charles IX wanted the year to begin on 1st January. So, people celebrated the new year on 1st January but a few people who wanted to laugh, celebrated the new year on 1st April, too. They gave not true presents but false ones. And nowadays, everyone loves making jokes.
In France, we are not allowed to fish in April because fish have their eggs. Some people made jokes to the fishermen throwing herrings into the rivers!! They said “poisson d’Avril”, when they threw these fishes.
Now, we do not throw fish into the rivers but we hang fish, discreetly on the back!! Sometimes, we walk all day with this paper fish on our back and we don’t know we have it!!
